Pensioners in the country sets to get six months arrears of the outstanding 12 months.

Pensioners in the country are set to get six months arrears of the outstanding 12 months owed them from the 33 percent pension increment.

This is contained in a statement issued by the General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Comrade Actor Zal.

He said the decision was reached at a consultative meeting held by the Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Administrative Directorate Barrister Sharon Ikeazor, with the NUP President, Dr Abel Afolayan, at the union’s headquarters in Abuja.

NUP had earlier given a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to pay the 12 months arrears or face a nationwide protest and picketing of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
